Histomorphological Study of Acalculus and Calculus Gall Bladder in a Tertiary Care Hospital of Western Uttar Pradesh

Introduction: Gall bladder is the most common surgically resected specimen as gallstones are one of major causes morbidity. There increasing incidence gall stones in India and more so North India. It can be due to changes life style such fat rich food sedentary style. Stones produce a wide variety mucosal ranging from inflammatory, metaplastic, dysplastic neoplastic lesions. Aim: This study was performed find out spectrum histopathological lesions cholecystectomy specimens with or without stones. Materials Methods: hospital based cross- sectional conducted on 415 received between 1st November 2019 31st October 2020 department Pathology NCR Institute Medical Sciences, Meerut. The were 10% formalin, gross details studied. Sections taken representative areas, processed stained Haematoxylin Eosin stain. These sections studied meticulously. Demographic data expressed percentages. p-value calculated by chi-square test. Results: Of 337 females 78 males female male ratio 4.3:1. finding chronic cholecystitis followed cholesterolosis observed 206/231 (89.17%) 28/31 (90.32%) respectively bladders 25/231 (10.82%) 3/31 (9.36%) Metaplasia dysplasia found 81/83 (97.59%) 15/16 (93.75%) cases stones, 2/83 (2.40%) 1/16 (6.25%) Conclusion: Cholelithiasis produces diverse alterations some which precancerous progress cancer. So, examination all essential for detection premalignant malignant conditions.
